Jeffrey S. Freeman, Esq.
Jeffrey S. Freeman, Esq. has represented and counseled hundreds of clients with their tax problems. Prior to starting his own firm, Jeff worked for at a large national tax firm specializing in international tax matters. After years of serving Fortune 500 clients and high net worth individuals and honing his negotiating as well as problem resolution skills, he saw the need to help individual taxpayers and smaller corporations.
By combining large firm training and attention to detail, with a small firm focus on resolving complex tax matters efficiently, creatively and strategically, Jeff’s goal is always to provide his clients with the highest level of representation. He has successfully negotiated and resolved complex tax controversies for his clients before the IRS and in the Federal and the Michigan Tax Courts. He has also skillfully handled criminal tax investigations, audits with various taxing authorities, the settlement of tax liabilities with the IRS, negotiation of installment agreements, removal of tax liens and levies, sales tax and payroll tax matters, innocent spouse claims and the removal of penalties and interest for his clients.
Jeff holds a Masters of Law in Taxation (LL.M.) from Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, D.C. and Juris Doctor, Cum Laude, from the Detroit College of Law at Michigan State University and a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting, with honor, from Michigan State University where he was a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma Business Honor Society and the Phi Kappa Phi Academic Honor Society.
Jeff is a member of the State Bar of Michigan’s Tax Section and Criminal Law Section. He is also a member of the Taxation Section of the American Bar Association. Jeff also serves on State Bar of Michigan’s Unauthorized Practice of Law Committee. He is also a member of the International Fiscal Association and Michigan Trial Lawyer’s Association. In addition to the State of Michigan courts, Jeff is admitted to practice in the United States Federal Court, Eastern District of Michigan, Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals and in the United States Tax Court.
Estes David Brockman, Esq.
David was born Massillon, Ohio, April 16, 1937 and admitted to practice in 1968. He earned a Bachelor of Arts at Vanderbilt University in 1958 a Master’s of Arts from Kent State University in1962, and; a Juris Doctor, Cum Laude from Wayne State University in 1968. From 1968 through 2002 he served as the Assistant Attorney General, State of Michigan, 1968-2002. From 1981 through 2002, he served as the Assistant in Charge, Collections and Tax Enforcement Division, Michigan Department of Attorney General. He currently has an Of Counsel relationship with the law firm of Jacob & Weingarten, P.C., Troy, MI. 2003-present and consults with the Law Offices of Jeffrey S. Freeman, PLLC on State Tax matters involving the Michigan Department of Treasury. He is a Member American Bar Association; Member Representative Assembly, State Bar of Michigan, 1984-85; Member, Creditor’s Rights Committee, Detroit Bar Association, Author, “Creditor’s Rights and Remedies”, Michigan Institute of Continuing Legal Education, (June, 1979); “Jeopardy Assessments and Forfeiture: Michigan Treasury’s Answer to the Drug Problem”,Michigan Institute of Continuing Legal Education, (February, 1982); listed in “Who’s Who in American Law,”(1990-91); Colonel, (Ret), Judge Advocate General’s Corps, United States Army Reserve. David S. Kerzner, Esq.
David has advised senior management in Fortune 500 companies on tax issues relating to cross border transactions, and strategic business planning. David use their expertise to assist small, medium, and public companies alike to achieve their international business goals through expert planning and execution. David is a graduate of HBA Ivey School of Business Administration, London, ON 1987, earned an LL.B. Faculty of Law, Queen’s University, Kingston, Ontario in 1990, an LL.M. (in International Legal Studies), New York University School of Law, in 1992 and an LL.M. (in Taxation), New York University School of Law, in 1993. David is admitted to practice law in the United States in State Bar of New York, 1993, US District Court, SDNY, 1994 US Tax Court, 1994 and the US Court of International Trade, 1994. In Canada David is admitted to practice law in the Province of Ontario, 1992 and is a Licensed Foreign Legal Consultant, Province of Ontario, 2005. Lastly, in the United Kingdom, David is admitted as a Solicitor, Supreme Court of England & Wales, 2000 .

Bill Bangela, Enrolled Agent, is a former IRS Revenue Agent with over thirty years of experience. He was Certified Fraud Examiner with the IRS and has experience working on the government’s largest cases including testifying in U.S. District Court and the U.S. Tax Court as both a revenue agent and a summary witness in Civil and Criminal tax matters. Bill assists our team with all aspects of tax compliance and financial analysis.
Bill holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Detroit and is a member of the National Association of Tax Professionals, the National Society of Tax Professionals and the National Society of Accountants.
