Installment agreements: Do you owe more money than you can possibly pay at this time? Rather than face liens or levies on your home, business, bank accounts, and accounts receivable, you may have the option of negotiating an installment agreement that is reasonable and manageable. Your Michigan tax attorney can help you negotiate an appropriate installment agreement.
- Non-collectible status: There are situations when you may not have the resources to pay your tax liability in full or in part. Neither an installment agreement nor an offer in compromise is a viable option at this time. By negotiating a non-collectible status, you will not be pressured to pay your tax bill at this time. When circumstances change, however, your non-collectible status will change. Talk to our tax resolution law firm about your options.
- Offer in compromise: The IRS or Michigan tax agency would rather have part of what you owe rather than none of what you owe. Careful negotiations can lower your tax liability under certain circumstances. Contact a tax attorney with experience and a solid reputation as a negotiator. Be aware that there are no shortcuts or easy answers. You need a solution — not an empty promise of "pennies on the dollar" settlements.
